We made it

…or part one of our plan is complete.

We are at my parent’s house, and this new chapter has begun.

While hubby does his orientation this morning, I get to unpack, sort and organize before doing any of my work for the day. This could mean a long day for me, but we didn’t have that much, to begin with in terms of stuff in the semi cab or at all really.

Dallas

When we lived in Dallas, before the lockdowns, all we had in our apartment was a couple of tables, a bed, pots, pans, plates, and other kitchen stuff. We never had enough money to buy furniture. We would have more stuff to move here from Atlanta if what didn’t happen there happened.

Atlanta

After our friend decided to tell us we could not stay with her in Louisana after a few months, we ended up with hubby’s sister in Georgia. She tries to warn us about the state of the house but was far worse than she let on. She had let it fall into disrepair and become a haven for mold, mildew, and cockroaches.

I was sick most of the time I was there and grateful to get back on the road. We had taken all of our stuff out of storage and put it in her house with her permission. That was a grave mistake.

When we went back a couple months later to get some things, all my crafting materials and jewelry I had made, along with my computer set-up had been stolen. Everything else was too molded or infested by roaches to recover. We had lost everything.

We tried to find out who took the things, but everyone was pointing fingers at everyone else.

It was a few months before this that his sister had passed away due to cancer. We were sharing the house with her son and his friend. Our mistake.

What we’re hoping for

We’re hoping to get a place by or in January. We don’t want to burden my parents any more than is needed. We are also going to be looking for a car and a way to get our things out of storage in Dallas once we get a place. We still have a lot to do, but we are determined to make it this work.

Until Next Time…
