In a world where escapism is the difference between relieving stress and resorting to less healthy coping mechanisms, it’s getting increasingly more difficult to find escapes that do NOT remind us of the world outside our window.
When you start finding yourself running out of options for escapism in the mainstream, you can always turn to Indie creators. They are on the rise, and here are some that caught my eye.
As always, you can click to listen, and there will be links to the creators at the end of each section.
Indie Comics and Manga
Jack Irons, the Steel Cowboy
I can’t talk enough about this small but growing comic and the people behind it. Cody and his crew are writing and inking a great story, but they, like many other indies, need your support to keep going.
You can find all the information you need on their website!

Black Noblesse
Another small but up-and-coming project, I have been reading what I can from the site it is featured. What I have read so far has got me wanting to see if I can fit one more subscription into my budget.
If you are looking for ambition, rags-to-riches, and the struggle to fulfill a dream, this is it.
The writing keeps me reading, and the art is ethereal and beautiful.

Litterbox comics
One of the most relatable comics I have seen on the internet, if you’re a parent that is. Every strip is a laugh and the art is solid.

The Earth Guy, Pilot Episode
Yes, you could say it looks generic, but once you realize it is one guy and a small budget, you will look at The Earth Guy from a different perspective.
The creator has taken an isekai theme and started on a solid path.
The models are unique, and the story, though not new, is entertaining.

Sleepy Mia
I have been conversing with her and following her work for a long while, and I can safely say, if you are looking for a VTuber rig to break into the scene, she is very talented and will not stop until you are satisfied. Her coloring, line work, and rigging are solid.
The finished animations are smooth.
Helena Nikulina
The detail, the intensity of the stare, and even the backdrop pull you into the scene. If you are looking to commission someone to make a piece of art to use for gaming sessions, to frame, or for any other reason, her links are:

If you find any indie creators you wish for me to look at, please let me know. Thanks!
